Competition: The winner becomes eligible for honorary membership of the Rathmines & Rathgar Musical Society for the following year. Cup and monetary prize presented by the Rathmines & Rathgar Musical Society. In addition, The Forde-Taylor Prize of €150 will be awarded for the best performance of a Gilbert & Sullivan item in the competition. If the overall winner of the cup performs a Gilbert & Sullivan item, he/she will be awarded both prizes.

Competitors to sing with appropriate gestures a solo item from a light opera or musical comedy. Costume optional.

Competitors must provide their own accompanist.
